PURPOSE: To obtain an excretion treating material for pet animal capable of being disposed the same as a combustible rubbish, using inexpensive materials, readily producible while keeping a large total water absorbing surface area and sufficient water absorptivity, and only its water absorbed part can be solidified to a small amount after the water absorption. CONSTITUTION: This treating material is composed of a core part comprising 50-80 wt.% of paper powder, 20-50 wt.% of powdery bentonite and 1-10 wt.% of water absorption polymer and a surface layer part comprising 5-30 wt.% of paper powder, 50-90 wt.% of powdery bentonite, 1-20 wt.% of CMC and 1-20 wt.% of starch, and a diameter of granular particle is 2-6 mm and an ash component after burning is suppressed to <= 50%.
