PURPOSE: An oil return system for split air conditioner is provided to prevent damage to the compressor by allowing the oil discharged from the compressor to be returned to the compressor without circulating throughout the cycle. CONSTITUTION: A system comprises an oil separator(51) for separating oil from refrigerant; a pair of refrigerant guide pipes(52,53) for guiding, toward the inlet side of the oil separator, the refrigerant delivered by and discharged from one of a pair of pipelines(33',34') drawn off from an outdoor unit(20); and a pair of oil return pipes(54,55) for returning the oil separated by the oil separator toward the other of the pipelines. The oil separator is connected to the pipelines via the refrigerant guide pipes, and first and second motor valves(52a,53a) are mounted at the refrigerant guide pipes, respectively. A refrigerant delivery pipe(59) is connected to the inlet side of an indoor heat exchanger(11) through a pipeline(33"), and the outlet side of the indoor heat exchanger is connected to an end of a capillary tube(58) through a pipeline(34"). The other end of the capillary tube is connected to a refrigerant return pipe(60) which is shunt into a first refrigerant return pipe(56) and a second refrigerant return pipe(57).
