PURPOSE: An exchange interface device of a PC(Personal Computer) manual switch board is provided to interface the PC and the exchange, so as to enable the PC to perform the functions of the manual switch board. CONSTITUTION: An ISDN(Integrated Service Digital Network) interface unit(200) has a standard TDM(Time Division Multiplex) interface for interfacing a B-channel of the ISDN between an exchange and a PC(Personal Computer) manual switch board, and has an interface for interfacing a D-channel. Also, the ISDN interface unit(200) has a register capable of read/write according to predetermined control. A controller(210) reads the register of the ISDN interface unit(200) if a request of an operator is received from the PC(140), to detect the state of the ISDN interface unit(200). And the controller(210) writes the register to enable data communication with the exchange for the state of the ISDN interface unit(200). A PCM(Pulse Code Modulation) CODEC(220) converts PCM data supplied from the exchange through the ISDN interface unit(200) into analog voice signals, to transmit the converted signals to a subscriber terminal device(230), according to control of the controller(210). And the PCM CODEC(220) converts analog voice signals received from the subscriber terminal device(230) into PCM data, to supply the converted data into the exchange through the ISDN interface unit(200), according to control of the controller(210).
