PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To variably set a search range in the case of stereo matching corresponding to a position on an image. SOLUTION: This device has a comparative image line memory 7, an address generating circuit 10 and a stereo matching circuit 8. The line memory 7 stores image data inside the reference pixel area of one picked-up image and image data on a horizontal line corresponding to the vertical position of the reference pixel area in the other picked-up image. The address generating circuit 10 sets the search range in the case of stereo matching and instructs the read of image data within the relevant set search range and image data inside the reference image area, to the line memory 7. Besides, the stereo matching circuit 8 specifies the correlation destination of the reference pixel area by stereo matching on the basis of the image data within the search range and the image data inside the reference pixel area read out of the line memory. In this case, on the basis of the degree of deviation of a correspondent infinite-point with the horizontal position of the reference pixel area as a reference, the said address generating circuit 10 corrects the position of the search range related to the relevant reference pixel area. |
