<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an active and highly anti-corrosive hydrogen storage alloy, and provide an alkaline battery having good cell properties such as low- temperature discharging, cycle and inter cell pressure properties. SOLUTION: The process for preparing an alkaline battery uses hydrogen storage alloy, acid-treated with acid-treatment solution having pH of less than 2, and then when pH of the acid-treatment solution reaches 2, a solution containing reducing agent is added to it to adjust pH to 3-9 and treat with the reducing agent, porous metal layer is formed on the surface of the hydrogen storage alloy and also metals such as cobalt, nickel and the like constituting the hydrogen storage alloy. As a result, it is possible to obtain a alkaline battery, in which the activity and anti-corrosive property of the hydrogen storage alloy are endhaced, the cell properties such as low-temperature discharging, cycle and inter pressure properties are enhanced, and gas absorbing and high discharging are enhanced.</p> |
