PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for a color filter protecting film and the protecting film having a high flattening property and excellent ability of hiding the projecting and recessing parts of a surface generated by a color ink pixel of an undercoating a black matrix or the like. SOLUTION: A composition for a color filter protecting film and the color filter protecting film formed by curing the composition are provided. The composition comprises a blocked carboxylic acid compound (A), an epoxy compound (B) having two or more epoxy groups in one molecule as indispensable components and a heat latent catalyst (C) exhibiting activity when the composition is thermally cured as an optional component. The blocked carboxylic acid compound (A) has two or more functional groups in one molecule, which is represented by the formula (1) (wherein R1, R2 and R3 each denotes a hydrogen atom or an organic group having carbon number of 1-18, R4 denotes an organic group having carbon number of 1-18 and may be bonded to R3 to form a heterocycle having Y as a hetero atom and Y denotes oxygen or sulfur atom).
