PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a construction of an image display equipment compared with one such as FED, and to decrease deterioration of a displayed image as well as to prolong the life of the device. SOLUTION: A potential difference is generated between a cathode electrode 13 and an anode electrode 22, a luminescent material 5 which has been sealed in advance is charged to negative at the cathode electrode 13. The luminescent material 5 which has been charged to negative is accelerated and moved from the cathode electrode 13 to the anode electrode 22 to impinge on a fluorescent material film 23 which is arranged on the anode electrode 22 so as to light a fluorescent material. The luminescent material 5 which collides with the fluorescent material film 23 becomes electrically neutral by transferring electrons to the anode electrode 22, and is diffused and moved between the anode electrode 22 and the cathode electrode 13 by thermal motion and the like.
