SEMICONDUCTIVE COMPOSITION AND DC INSULATING CABLE USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductive composition for an insulating cable with superior characteristics. SOLUTION: A semiconductive composition for a plastic insulating cable comprises adding 30-60 wt.pts carbon black to 100 wt.pts base resin admixture containing total 99-40 wt.pts material selected out of at least one of polyethylene and polyethylene copolymer and total 5-60 wt.pts material selected out of at least one of silane graft polyethylene and silane graft polyethylene copolymer. Such composition gives good heat resistance and mechanical strength (anti- crushing), eliminates the possibility of scorching and restricts the occurrence of space charges in an insulator, providing the semiconductive composition superior in machinability and flow resistance.
