OPTICAL FIBER CORD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cord with which a finer diameter may be achieved and a non-halogen characteristic and fire-retardance are sufficiently excellent while having sufficient bending rigidity and transmission characteristic. SOLUTION: This optical fiber cord 1 has a coated optical fiber 11, a buffer fiber layer 12 covering the circumference of the coated optical fiber 11 and a sheath 13 (sheath member) covering the circumference of the buffer fiber layer 12. The sheath 13 is formed by laminating an inner layer 13a which consists of a first resin compsn. not containing a halogen element and has a Young's modulus of 80 to 150 kgf/mm2 and an outer layer 13b which consists of a second resin compsn. not containing the halogen element, has a Young's modulus of 5 to 50 kgf/mm2 and has the flame-retardance of a V-0 level in a UL-94 test.
