PURPOSE: A recording pulse embodying method and apparatus in a plasma display panel are provided to improve a contrast of a cell image by reducing a discharge radiation intensity and producing a stable wall charge. CONSTITUTION: A recording voltage generator(125) generates a recording pulse having a voltage and pulse width which discharges a recording with respect to a total cell between scan electrodes(Y1-Ym) and sustain electrodes(Z1-Zm). A recording voltage delay means(127) controls the recording voltage generated by the recording voltage generator(125) to have an integral feature which is increased with a gentle slope. A sustain voltage generator(123) generates a pulse which is synchronous with a voltage which maintains a recording discharge with respect to a total cell between scan electrodes(Y1-Ym) and sustain electrodes(Z1-Zm) and having a phase opposite of that thereof. A voltage input/output section(121) applies a voltage of each pulse to one of the scan electrodes(Y1-Ym) and sustain electrodes(Z1-Zm), and discharges a voltage from other electrodes. |
