PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing foam polystyrene bead is provided which has no decrease in physical properties with reduced changes as time passes, thus has extended storage life by reducing the volatilization rate of foaming agents such as pentane and butane having low boiling point. CONSTITUTION: A foam polystyrene is produced by adding monomers, which have large electro-negativity and contain a second initiator, continuously to a polystyrene polymerized by mixing water and dispersant to prepare aqueous suspension solution then adding styrene monomer containing a first initiator thereto with an elevation of temperature, in order to form a shell on the surface of the polystyrene bead; performing polymerization in the presence of aqueous medium, and impregnating a foaming agent, wherein the monomer is selected from alkyl methacrylate compound, vinyl cyanide compound and combination thereof, the second initiator includes azo-bis-isobutyl nitrile, benzoyl peroxide, and the like, wherein the amount of the monomer is 5-10 wt% based on the weight of the styrene monomer.
