PURPOSE: A method for displaying opposite party information of a private branch exchange is provided for a subscriber to confirm whether the inputted called party phone number is accurate in case of originating a call in an office line and easily check a calling party through a phone number or a name before talking on the phone in case of an incoming call in an office line by displaying the phone number or the name of the opposite party on a liquid crystal display unit of a digital phone of the subscriber. CONSTITUTION: A controller checks whether a destination ring is detected through an office line circuit(S301). When the destination ring is detected, the controller checks whether the phone number of the other party, that is the phone number of the calling party is included in the destined office line signal(S302). Upon checking, if the other party phone number has been included in the office line signal, the controller searches a look-up table stored in a RAM for the same phone number as the other party phone number(S303). Upon search, if the same phone number exists, the controller identifies a display priority previously set in a system(S304). If the pre-set display priority is the other party phone number, the controller controls an extension circuit to destine the office line signal to a destination subscriber to allow the destination subscriber to listen to the dial tone, and in this state, the controller displays the detected calling party name on an LCD of a digital phone(S306). Upon checking(S303), if the same phone number as the other party phone number does not exist, the controller checks whether the other party phone number included in the office line signal is to be displayed on the LCD of the digital phone(S308). Upon checking though the same phone number as the other party phone number does not exist in the look-up table, if it has been set to display the other party phone number on the LCD of the destination subscriber, it is displayed. If, however, displaying the other party phone number has not been set, it is terminated.
