PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly execute an initial operation to a three-dimensional optical recording medium and to surely make recording/reproducing beams access a desired recording layer at a high speed. SOLUTION: A spindle motor 18 is driven and an optical disk 1 is started to rotate at a prescribed number of revolution. An optical pickup 20 is positioned in the innermost periphery of the optical disk 1, a first light source 19 is turned on in the area other than the user area of the innermost periphery of the optical disk 1, and the optical disk 1 is irradiated with beams for a servo. A focus search and focus control to the servo layer 3 of the beams for the servo are started. A focusing servo to the servo layer 3 is waited for finishing, and the rotation of the optical disk 1 is waited for reaching the prescribed number of revolution when the focusing servo is finished. |
