PURPOSE: To simplify structure and to improve the precision of frame driving by using linear motors to the respective driving sources of an X driving part and a Y driving part for giving driving force to various kinds of frames for setting a matter to be sewn. CONSTITUTION: An original cloth frame 18 being one form of a frame is provided on the upper surface of a sewing machine table to set a matter to be sewn (original cloth) to the frame 18. The frame is driven in both of the X and Y directions along the upper surface of the sewing machine table. The basic constitution of both of the parts 20 and 30 are the same. Linear rails are respectively fixed to both sides of a stator 42, and a mover 46 is supported in the state of being movable in the Y direction (or X direction) inserting a small gap between with the upper surface of the stator 42 with respect to the linear rails. Namely, a linear motor consists of the stator 42, the linear rail and the mover 46. The linear motor is used for the individual driving source of the part 20 and the part 30 like this.
