PURPOSE: A method for enhancing the performance of catalyst used in the styrene production is provided to prevent lowering of catalytic efficiency by directly evaporating and introducing KOH under vacuum condition simultaneously with flowing steam and ethylbenzene as raw materials into a reactor. CONSTITUTION: An improvement method of catalytic performance is accomplished by means of catalytical hydrogenation of ethylbenzene to produce styrene monomer comprising supplying steam and the ethylbenzene into a reactor and, at the same time, evaporating and directly introducing KOH through alternative supplying line under vacuum condition. KOH to be introduced is dissolved in water and stored within a storage tank as aqueous solution. Afterward, the stored KOH solution is delivered to a concentration bath to produce a concentrated product and subsequently moved into an evaporation bath to be in gaseous state under vacuum evaporation process. The KOH gas is continuously supplied into the reactor by means of vacuum pump.
