PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver capable of quickly setting up channel selection for the start of viewing to a required channel or program. SOLUTION: The digital broadcast receiver is provided with storage means 8, 9 for storing at least one genre information requested by a viewer and channel information viewed before stopping viewing and a channel selection means 7 for selecting the genre information or the channel information stored in the storage means 8, 9 in accordance with a control signal inputted by viewing start operation and retrieving the channel information of a requested genre from the program information of respective broadcasting channels to select a viewing start channel when the genre information is selected.
