PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of uneven development, low image reproducibility and transport failure due to a change of heat transfer coefficient and the inflow of air when a heat developable photosensitive material is processed. SOLUTION: A heat developable photosensitive material containing photosensitive silver halide, an organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions, a contrast enhancer and a binder is processed with a heat developing device in which the void ratio (the ratio of the internal void volume (cm3) of a heating part to the internal volume (cm3) of the heating part) is in the range of 0.002-0.3.
