PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seating-load detecting device which can be equipped without largely changing a seat on a vehicle, whose detecting stability and accuracy are increased and which ensures the safety and the comfortability of the seat. SOLUTION: A lower arm 6 and an upper rail 3 which support a seat cushion 9 and a seat back 10 are connected by a front bracket 4 and a rear bracket 5. A strain gage 12 and a strain gage 13 are pasted on the bracket 4 and the bracket 5. The brackets 4, 5 have U-shaped, sidelong U-shaped or inverted-V shaped bend parts. A direction which is at right angles to two opposite legs 41, 42 of the parts is set as the vertical direction (z), and the lower arm 6 is coupled to the upper rail 3. The strain gage 12 is pasted on the x-y plane of the leg 42 when the front and rear direction of a vehicle is designated as the y-direction and when the direction of a vehicle width is designated as the x- direction. A total of four strain detecting elements G11 to G22 are provided in such a way that two each are matrix-distributed in the x-direction and the y-direction. When the elements are Wheatstone-bridge-connected, a high-gain seating-load detecting voltage (e) is obtained to the change in a vertical load Fv.
