PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the cause of a failure at the time of the occurrence of the failure with a case cooling system in which a plurality of showcases are connected with a refrigerant supply source through refrigerant piping as an object. SOLUTION: A failure cause presuming device is equipped with a timer 7 for measuring the time of energizing a defrosting heater with respect to each showcase 3, a defrosting operation control setting part 61 in which the longest time of energizing the heater is preset with respect to each showcase 3, and a defrosting determination result recording part 62 for recording the result of a determination of whether the measured energizing time has exceeded the longest energizing time over past plural times. A CPU 5 presumes frosting of an evaporator as the cause of a failure on the basis of information recorded in the defrosting determination result recording part 62.
