REFLECTIVE TYPE LIQUID CRYSTALLINE DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A liquid crystalline display(LCD) of reflective type which uses hard dielectric liquid crystalline substance is provided. CONSTITUTION: The LCD comprises: (i) a transparent first base plate(12) which has the inner side and the outer side; (ii) a polarizing plate(20) which is adhered to the outer side of the first base plate and has a polarizing direction of the first direction: (iii) a transparent first electrode(32) which forms at the inner side of the base plate: (iv) a first facing film(42) which forms on the first electrode and faces liquid crystalline molecule toward the second direction; (v) a second base plate(11) which has the inner side and the outer side being opposite to the inner side of the first base plate: (vi) a second electrode(31) which forms on the inner side of the second base plate and also plays a role of a reflecting plate; (vii) a second facing film(41) which forms on the second electrode and faces liquid crystalline molecule toward the second direction and other third direction; and (viii) a hard dielectric liquid crystalline layer(50) which is poured into between the first facing film and the second facing film. In the reflective liquid crystalline display, the direction of the liquid crystalline molecule of the hard dielectric liquid crystalline layer is twisted toward from the second direction to the third direction as it goes from the surface of the first facing film to the surface of the second facing film.
