PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cooling capable of reducing an energy to be consumed to regenerate an absorbing and desorbing medium, as compared with prior art, and an apparatus for cooling to cool the air by the method. SOLUTION: When high humidity air is passed through absorbing and desorbing units 1, 2, absorbing and desorbing media in the units 1, 2 absorb moisture, and the air heated by absorbing heat generated in association with the absorbing flows out from the unit 2. When the air passes through an absorbing and desorbing unit 3 after deriving a heat from the air, the media in the unit 3 desorbs the moisture, and the air derived at its evaporating latent heat in association with the desorbing flows out from the unit 3. The heated air flows into an absorbing and desorbing unit 4, and the media in the unit 4 is regenerated. When valves 8a to 8h are switched, functions of the units 1, 3 are replaced, and the functions of the units 2, 4 are replaced.
