PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error correction circuit that can obtain a result of error correction at a high-speed and to provide an error correction method. SOLUTION: The error correction circuit 100 relating to this invention is provided with error correction blocks 10#1 and 10#2. At a time when data of an (n-1)th bit are received among data with a code length n (n is, e.g. 184), a before-correction data input processing circuit 8 gives pre-determined 1-bit data to each error correction block. Each error correction block starts error correction processing for the code length n based on received data from the 1st bit to the data with the (n-1)th bit and the 1-bit data. An output data selection circuit 12 selects either one of the results of correction of two error correction blocks and outputs the selected result.
