PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a partial discharge in a gas insulating device by which an in-advance measurement of resonance and spectrum intensity can be eliminated and the partial discharge inside a gas insulator be accurately measured by eliminating external noises. SOLUTION: This method is used to capature a partial discharge producing in an insulator insulating a high-voltage conductor in a gas pressure container and to diagnose the insulation of the insulator or detect the insulation deterioration thereof. The partial discharge producing in the insulator is detected by a detection electrode 6 provided facing the inside of a gas pressure container 2, and the detected partial discharge is transmitted through a detection impedance 9 and an amplifier 10 housed in an electromagnetic shield case 12, and then it is led out to the outside through a second noise filter 13 for preventing the entry of external noise which is provided inside the electromagnetic shield case 12 and is connected with an output of the amplifier 10 and a first noise filter 15 for preventing the entry of external noise which is provided outside the electromagnetic shield case 12 and is connected in series with the second noise filter 13.
