PURPOSE: A self-diagnosis device in a video coder is provided to check troubles of each block by installing a diagnosis to each block. CONSTITUTION: The video coder comprises a subtracter(1), a DCT(Discrete Cosine Transformer)(2), a quantizer(3), a variable length coder(4), an inverse quantizer(6), an inverse DCT(7), and a motion estimation and compensation portion(8). The coder further comprises a self-diagnosis device having a check sum code generator(10-70) and a comparator(80). The check sum code generator(10-70) generates check sum codes for input data during a predetermined time. The comparator(80) compares an output of the check sum code generator(10-70) with each block data. The compared result is output as a diagnosis result. |
