PURPOSE: A neck protecting device of a headrest is provided to move the headrest into the head of the passenger with the impact load on the pressure plate of the seatback by inertia, and to protect the neck by preventing the head from being pulled back at a rear-end collision. CONSTITUTION: A neck injury preventive system is composed of a supporting rod(26) installed in the lower part of a headrest(10); a turning bracket(34) integrally fixed in the lower part of the supporting rod; a pressure plate(38) turning around a hinge axle(32) mounted in a frame(22); an elastic bracket(30) to install and remove the supporting rod in the upper part of the frame; and a supporting rod guide(28) having a fitting hole(24) to move the supporting rod back and forth. The passenger is moved to a seatback(20) by inertia, and the pressure plate is rotated by transmitting the pressure load to the pressure plate at a rear-end collision. The supporting rod moves forward along the fitting hole by being separated from an opening section(31) of the elastic bracket. The headrest combined with the upper part of the supporting rod prevents the head of the passenger from being pulled back with moving into the head of the passenger.
