PURPOSE: An apparatus for encoding/decoding packet data is provided to store key streams for forming encoded sentences and data packet in a buffer in one-byte parallel, then to form encoded sentences through an exclusive OR operation, so as to minimize time delay in encoded sentence transmitting processes and to quickly supply the data packet. CONSTITUTION: If serial plain text data packets are inputted, the first interface processor(10) processes the data packets with a physical layer interface protocol, and applies the data packets to a serial to parallel converter(20). The serial to parallel converter(20) converts the serial data packets into parallel data packets, and stores the parallel data packets in the first buffer(40). An encoding/decoding processor(50) outputs key streams for forming the plain text data packets into encoded sentences at 8-clock cycles until an end flag is detected, and stores the key streams in the second buffer(60). An arithmetic operator(70) performs an exclusive OR operation for the plain text data packets and the key streams to form encoded sentences, and processes the encoded data packets to apply the data packets to a parallel to serial converter(90). The parallel to serial converter(90) forms the 8-bit parallel data packets as serial data packets, and converts the serial data packets with the physical layer protocol, then transmits the converted data packets to other station, through the second interface processor(100) connected to a communication network cable. |
