APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROTECTING MOTOR FOR INVERTER REFRIGERATOR

PURPOSE: A motor protection apparatus and method is provided to protect the central processing unit from power supply failure even when the OLP of the refrigerator is in operation. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises an OLP sensing unit(60) for sensing the operation of OLP; a central processing unit(20) for taking as an input the sensed signal from the OLP sensing unit and controlling power supply line; a power selecting unit(70) for selecting power supply line in accordance with the control signal form the central processing unit; an OLP for cutting off an AC power so as to protect the motor attached to the compressor from over-heat or over-current; a power unit(10) for receiving the AC power through OLP and supply the AC power; a sensing unit(40) for sensing the current state of refrigerator through a sensor; a display unit(50) for displaying the current state of refrigerator in accordance with the control signal from the central processing unit; and a driving unit(30) for driving the motor in accordance with the control signal from the central processing unit.
