APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR BOOTING DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for booting a data processing system is provided to restore a master flash ROM in which data are abnormally rerecorded by rerecording new data to the master flash ROM by equipping a residual flash ROM, by performing a boot as the residual flash ROM if the boot isn't performed as the ROM at the time for booting a system. CONSTITUTION: A CPU(10) processes all sorts of data, and transmits a designated address to an address bus. A master ROM(20) loads data of the designated address based on the address inputted from the CPU(10) through the address bus on a data bus. A residual ROM(30) stores a program which boots/initializes a board. A RAM(40) stores the data processed by the CPU(10). A PLD logic unit(50) decodes the address transmitted from the CPU(10) through the address bus. A watch timer(60) watches a chip selection signal approved from the PLD logic unit(50).
