PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for searching texture are provided to search a texture at high speed by estimating a scale in Radon plane and extracting a texture image character in Radon plane through a matching pursuing and searching a texture using the texture image character. CONSTITUTION: A texture input unit(110) receives a texture image. A power spectrum estimating unit(120) estimates a power spectrum from an inputted texture image. A scale estimating unit(130) estimates a scale in the power spectrum obtained from the power spectrum estimating unit(120). A Radon converting unit(140) converts the inputted texture image. A matching pursuing unit(150) performs a matching pursuing and extracting a character value of an image in accordance with the estimated scale in Radon plane obtained from the Radon converting unit(140). A texture searching unit(160) compares the character value of an image obtained from the matching pursuing unit(150) with a character value of an image in a pre-database, and searches a texture.
