PURPOSE: A self diagnosis apparatus and method are provided to test the feedback printed circuit board(PCB) of an inverter system by generating the virtual feedback signal and supplying it to an apparatus having diagnosis program. CONSTITUTION: The self diagnosis apparatus comprises a main controller(1) having a self diagnosis program, a test selection signal generator(2) for producing the selection signal according to the self diagnosis program, a virtual feedback signal generator for producing the virtual feedback signal on the basis of test items, a sinusoidal signal generator(3) for generating the sinusoidal signal voltage, an electronic switch unit(4) for transforming the sinusoidal signal voltage into a feedback signal, and a display unit for displaying system test result. The main controller applies the virtual feedback signal to the PCB depending on the self diagnosis program, and detects the fault status by using the signal voltage generated from the internal components of the PCB. The system test result has a malfunction, a fault location, and fault contents.
