PURPOSE: An apparatus is provided to retain freshness of vegetables over a long period of time by controlling cooling method in accordance with the volume of vegetables stored in the vegetable tray. CONSTITUTION: A vegetable compartment includes a vegetable tray(20) and a vegetable tray cover(22) mounted onto the top of the vegetable tray. A cooling air supply unit(22) for supplies cooling air into the vegetable compartment and which is communicated to the refrigerating compartment is interposed between the vegetable tray and the vegetable tray cover. The cooling air supply unit is opened/closed by a cooling air control film(30) which is connected to a lever(32). The lever is connected to be rotatable to the vegetable tray cover by a support pin(32a), and has an operation unit(32) protruded outwardly from the vegetable compartment. The cooling air control film moves sideways in accordance with the operation of the operation unit, to thereby open/close the cooling air supply unit. Accordingly, the vegetable compartment is directly fed with cooling air through the cooling air supply unit, or cooled indirectly by closing the cooling air supply unit.
