The present invention comprises a quick-change tool system for a collet (10) in alignment with a spindle (12) of a milling machine. The collet (10) comprises an elongated member having a first end (16) of generally conical configuration with a bore (30) arranged longitudinally therein. The collet (10) has a second end (20) for securement to a spindle (12) in the machine. The quick change tool system comprises a tightenable securement coupling (60) for securing a tool (18) in the collet (10) and also for aligning the collet (10) and a tool (18) within the spindle (12). Subsequent requirement for re-adjustment of the "z" axis coordinates of the tool (18) within the collet (10) and with respect to the spindle (12) is eliminated. |
