Pyrimidine derivatives of general formula (I) or nontoxic salts thereof, useful as intermediates for the synthesis of drugs and/or as drugs, particularly elastase inhibitors. In formulas (I) and (II) R<1> is H or F; R<2> is -CH(OR<3>)2, CHO, COOH, alkoxycarbonyl, furan-2-yl, a group of general formula (II), or the like; R<3> is Me or Et; and R<4> is alkyl, phenyl, (substituted) benzyl, or the like.
