摘要 <p>A conventional redox flow battery has a problem that the quantities of electrolyte of an anode and a cathode are increased/decreased through a diaphragm following charge/discharge and, as a result, electric energy is significantly reduced by the repetition of a charge/discharge cycle. A new redox flow type secondary battery that is an electrolyte circulation type battery which comprises a battery cell, an anode electrolyte sink and a cathode electrolyte sink, the battery cell having liquid-permeable porous electrodes separated from each other by a diaphram, characterized in that electrolyte for the anode and cathode is sulfuric acid solution containing vanadium ions with a concentration of 0.5mol/L - 8mol/L, and the electrolyte transferred through the diaphragm by the repetition of the charge/discharge cycle is returned from the sink with the increased liquid quantity to the sink with the decreased liquid quantity through a pipe in order to practice charge/discharge while the changes in quantities of the anode electrolyte and cathode electrolyte are kept within a certain range. It is preferable to provide a liquid level difference between the two sinks to reflux the increased electrolyte by overflowing. The battery can be charged/discharged continuously for a long time without significant decline in battery performance.</p>
