PURPOSE: A device for producing long period optical fiber grating is provided, which produces a variety spectrum of long period optical fiber gratings easily and sequentially, improves the production efficiency by adjusting the amplitude mask by making it movable, and makes possible to install a multitude of optical fibers at once. CONSTITUTION: A device for producing long period optical fiber grating characteristically comprises: an ultra violet laser beam source(210) which irradiates ultra violet laser light that changes the refractive index of an optical fiber core; a lens part(220) where focus adjustment and expansion of the ultra violet laser beam is performed; a mask(230) which selectively pass the ultra violet laser beam that has been passed the lens part; a mask moving part(240) which moves the mask to up and down, and right and left direction depending on the moving direction of the core of the ultra violet laser beam; a slit part(250) which passes only a limited width of the laser beam that has passed the mask through the slit; a fiber holder(260) where optical fiber is installed and exposed to the laser beam that has passed the slit part; an operation part(270) for operating the mask moving part, slit and fiber holder; a controller(280) for moving the mask moving part, slit, and fiber holder according to the grating producing information such as band-width and extinction ratio input by an operator.
