Garden tool, formed by a shaft with at one outer end a member that is intended to be used to carry out a working, for instance in or above the soil, and which member is adapted so that a user can apply a pressure upon the member with a foot, such as the blade of a shovel or a border cutter, wherein means are provided by means of which the pressure of the foot can be applied above a centrally located part of the member.
