A stored program is activated in the mobile phone when the call screening device, which is based on time windows, is switched into operation. The windows are defined by the subscriber as times in which non-urgent calls are blocked, the incoming call being stored for subsequent return of the call, or held until the end of the time window. A spoken message indicating the call held mode is delivered to the caller.
