The clamp plate has a retaining rib on its pressure surface to assist in retaining the cable within the clamp. The electrical connection terminal comprises a cable contact surface (18) which forms the base of a U-shaped element (2). A clamping plate (4) is provided to be displaced on to the cable on this surface. The block is attached to the end of a bolt (8) which passes through a threaded block (6), the block being retained by shaped edges (30) which fit inside the U-shaped block. The clamping plate has a projecting rib (24) which is intended to press down on the cable, and is mounted to enable rotation of the bolt within a hole (26) in its upper surface. The projecting rib is inclined w.r.t. the direction of the cable axis, and may be at right angles to it.
