PURPOSE:To determine the size of sheets without complicating the simple detection structure of the sheet size by providing a sheet size selecting means for selecting the size of sheet which is actually stored based on the output of a detecting means for detecting the length of the sheet which is stored in a sheet storage part. CONSTITUTION:There are provided the first-third sheets feed decks 21-23 in a sheet feed unit 2 which is fixed adjacent to the copying machine body 1 of a copying machine in order from the top. A by-path tray 24 is disposed at the upper part of the first sheet feed deck 21, and sheet feed mechanisms 25 are provided at the respective decks 21-23 and the tray 24 respectively. With this constitution, a document size sensor is provided at an automatic document carrying device 14, and sheet width sensors are provided at the respective decks 21-23 respectively to input the output signals to a control part. Besides, a sheet size selecting key which enables an operator to select the size of actually stored sheets from the size of sheets which may be judged to be stored based on the detected results of the sheet width stored in the respective decks 21-23 is also provided at a key panel. |
