A transmission power amplifying unit of a base station apparatus for compensating the non-linear distortion of a transmission power amplifier by feedforward control. The transmission power amplifying unit includes a gain varying section for varying the gain thereof. A control section judges, at the start of operation of the transmission power amplifying unit, whether the base station apparatus operating in a blossoming mode or a breathing mode. If in the blossoming mode, the gain varying section is controlled to maximize the gain of the transmission power amplifying unit. If in the breathing mode, the gain is gradually increased with time.
