PURPOSE: A method for managing a disk using RAID(Redundancy Array Independent Disk) level Y is provided to divide disks into a master channel and a slave channel, and to perform stripping by channel simultaneously and mirroring between the channels, thereby processing date by chunks of each disk. CONSTITUTION: SCSI(Small Computer System Interface) controllers(21,31) of the first and the second channels(20,30) manage disks by using a striping system, which sequentially records and reads chunks of each disk. A RAID(Redundancy Array Independent Disk) disk controller(10) generates virtual disks. The first and the second channels(20,30) manage disks by using a mirroring system, which designates a master channel to read data recorded in chunks of each disk in the corresponding channel. A RAID disk controller(10) generates virtual disks. In a corresponding RAID level Y, restoration data are distributed by chunks to enable prompt data processing.
