PURPOSE: A method for displaying an error of a modem is provided to diagnose the error of the modem and correct the error easily, respectively. CONSTITUTION: In an error displaying method of a modem for sensing an error generation state and displaying a generation or not of an error through an error displaying unit, error information including a kind of an error generated when an error is generated and the generation number of kinds of errors is stored in an internal memory of a micro processor. The stored error information is converted into a signal in accordance with a pre-set protocol and controlled for being displayed on the display unit. The error information may be converted into a signal in accordance with a pre-set protocol and outputted to a communication path of the modem. The signal includes a value for displaying a generated error kind, a value for displaying the generation number of kinds of errors, a preamble, and postamble.
