PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure high resolution printing by enhancing reproducibility of isolated dots or thin lines without increasing the storage capacity of a developed image. SOLUTION: Image data generated in a computer is developed into an image and stored and the stored image data is subjected to DMA processing before being delivered to a printer engine for printing. In such a printer controller, switching can be made for the print data being delivered to the printer engine whether it is delivered as it is or delivered after being pulse modulated through a delay buffer 13 subsequently to an intermediate buffer 11.
