Catalyst for the hydroisomerization of waxes (paraffins), which catalyst is constituted by a carrier of acidic nature, of amorphous silica-alumina gel, with a molar ratio of SiO2:Al2O3 comprised within the range of from 30:1 to 500:1, a surface area comprised within the range of from 500 to 1000 m<2>/g, a porosity of from 0.3 to 0.6 ml/g, an average diameter of pores of from 10 to 30 Angstroms, and one or more metals belonging to Group VIIIA.
