PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal scavenger having high flocculating properties of flocs formed by reacting the metal scavenger with a metal and capable of forming large flocs good in sedimentation properties and efficiently carrying out a treatment of wastewater, etc. SOLUTION: This metal scavenger is a compound having a structure in which metal scavenging functional groups such as a dithioic acid group, an alkylenephosphoric acid group, an alkylenecarboxylic acid group, an oxime group or an amidoxime group are bound to nitrogen atoms derived from polyamines that are reactional products of polyamines such as ethylenediamine or triethylenetetramine with a dibasic acid such as oxalic acid or sebacic acid.
