PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front wheel caster for a wheelchair or the like permitting a smooth shift over a stepped part of vertically stepped floor faces and stairs. SOLUTION: A vertical shaft 2 is fixed to the upper end center part of a downward open groove frame 1, and a guide 3 having a front end part formed in small-circular arc shape and a rear end part formed in large-diameter circular arc shape and having a linear part between both circular arc shaped parts, is disposed inside the downward open groove frame 1. The center of curvature at the rear end of the guide 3 is pivotally supported (4) to the rear end of the groove frame 1, and wheels 5, 5 are idly supported to both sides of the rear part. An endless chain 7 is stretched around the guide 3, and a roller abutting on the guide 3 is idly supported to a link shaft of the chain 7. A link is provided with cover plates 9, and side face guide inner frame plates 10, 10 of the chain 7 are provided on both sides of the guide 3, integrally with the guide 3.
