PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a readily handleable, safe, disposable and inexpensive small animal capturing device. SOLUTION: This small animal capturing device comprises a lower pedestal (2), an upper lid (3) freely rotatably supported by the lower pedestal (2) and an operating plate (4) for operating the upper lid (3). When the front (32) of the upper lid (3) is lifted, the rear end (33) of the upper lid (3) is rotated downward with a shaft (31) as a fulcrum to push down the rear end (43) of the operating plate (4) and fit the rear end (33) of the upper lid (3) to the rear end (43) of the operating plate (4). When the front end (32) of the upper lid (3) crosses the vertical line of the center of gravity of the upper lid (3), the rear end (33) of the upper lid (3) contacts the rear edge of the lower pedestal (2) to stop the rotation of the upper lid (3). Thereby, the upper lid (3) is held in a preparatory position for falling. When a small animal touches on the front end of the operating plate (4), the operating plate (4) is operated to push up the rear end (33) of the upper lid (3) to the upper rear. Thereby, the front end (32) of the upper lid (3) is rotated to the front. When the front end (32) of the upper lid (3) crosses the vertical line of the center of gravity of the upper lid (3), the upper lid (3) rapidly falls toward the lower pedestal (2) by its own weight. Thereby, the small animal is shut in the space between the upper lid (3) and the lower pedestal (2) and captured.
