The invention relates to a lead-acid accumulator having a battery housing which has at least one cell compartment in which at least two mutually separated electrodes are provided, at least one of which is coated with an active material on at least one of its two flat surfaces. The characteristic features of the lead-acid accumulator according to the invention are that at least one of the coated electrodes has a flat lead sheet, in the form of a panel, as the main electrical conductor, which lead sheet has a suitably raised side edge in order to define the layer thickness of the active material, and that the electrodes which are allocated to one cell compartment are pressed firmly against one another by means of a contact-pressure force which acts transversely with respect to the flat electrode surfaces. The lead-acid accumulator according to the invention is characterised by low voltage losses and a high current capacity, its electrodes being capable of production at a low cost and undesired decoupling between the main current conductor sheet and the active layer deposited on it being counteracted. <IMAGE> |
