PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal-ceramic composite material whose surface is excellent in smoothness. SOLUTION: This metal-ceramic composite material is a Si-SiC composite material consisting of Si and SiC powders and has a Si layer on at least one surface, which Si layer is polished. The metal-ceramics composite material is produced by adding an organic binder to the SiC powder, then mixing, molding the mixed powder, heating the molding at 1,500 to 1,700 deg.C under vacuum while bringing Si into contact with at least one surface of the molding in order to impregnate molten Si into the molding and simultaneously forming the Si layer on the surface and finally polishing the surface of the Si layer. |
