PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the color tone is varied when an image is recorded by delivering image data, subjected to color conditioning according to an output apparatus, to other type of output apparatus. SOLUTION: An image of specified color test chart formed on a recording sheet by means of a color copy machine 402 and a color printer 403 is read out by the color copy machine 402 and, based on the density characteristics of both images thus obtained, image correction characteristics of the color copy machine 402 are set thus simulating the color reproduction characteristics of the color printer 403 by means of the color copy machine 402.
